France and Luxembourg are bracing for their fourth significant heatwave of the summer, with meteorologists predicting temperatures to spike sharply starting July 28, and remaining perilously high through early August. The heatwave is anticipated to initiate in the southwestern region of France, eventually extending across the majority of the country. In several areas, temperatures could soar to 40–41°C, while many other regions may experience highs ranging from 35°C to 38°C. Furthermore, nighttime temperatures are expected to stay above 20°C in various locations, providing little respite from the sweltering heat.
Luxembourg is also expected to undergo a rapid temperature increase following a cooler start to the week. By Wednesday and Thursday, the country is forecasted to face highs of 33–36°C under predominantly clear skies, marking a sharp contrast to the earlier, milder weather conditions.
As the heatwave persists, experts express concerns about the prolonged high temperatures possibly extending into early August. This extended period of intense heat exacerbates existing worries about ongoing drought conditions across the region.
