In a bid to fortify their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnam and France have pledged to enhance collaboration across various sectors, including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. During recent discussions in Hanoi, both nations assessed the progress made in their bilateral relations and resolved to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam has emphasized the need for deeper cooperation in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to hasten the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to persist in advocating for the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which has posed challenges to their trade relations.
Describing Vietnam as a crucial strategic ally in the Asia-Pacific region, France expressed its interest in broadening partnerships, particularly in nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. This move underscores France’s recognition of Vietnam’s growing importance and potential within the region.
Both countries also committed to enhancing their cooperation on both regional and global issues, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. By reinforcing their partnership, Vietnam and France aim to contribute positively to regional stability and global governance.
