Louvre Raises Ticket Prices for Non-EU Tourists to Boost Revenue

by admin477351

The Louvre Museum in Paris will introduce a significant ticket price increase for visitors from outside the European Union starting January 14, 2026. Tourists from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom and China will pay €32 to enter, a 45% jump from current rates. The museum says this measure is key to generating additional funds needed for major structural upgrades.

The higher charges are expected to raise up to €20 million annually, helping address longstanding maintenance and security concerns. The Louvre, which attracts millions of international visitors each year, has recently faced criticism over inadequate security measures highlighted after the theft of valuable items in a rapid daylight raid.

The decision ends the universal pricing model previously applied to all nationalities. While museum officials consider the price adjustment necessary for modernization, union groups have raised concerns, arguing that the change could be viewed as unfair towards non-EU tourists.
